About us

'Gong Tong'(), two Chinese characters meaning 'togetherness' were the words sovereignly given to the founders of this work, Cyril and Gabrielle Thomas, long before it started a quarter of a century ago. During the eighties the emphasis was on fulfilling the great commission as the good news was shared across China through the lives and words of the teachers from many countries who were called to serve. In the next phase of the work, living out the good news involved providing love, homes and care for abandoned, disabled, sick babies and children. More recently health care and community development programmes have been initiated and go deep into the community. The work continues to grow and develop and as it does, so has the 'togetherness' with the Chinese people who are working in partnership with us and carrying most of the burdens of administration, management and hands-on care.

Vision for China is a registered British charity bringing together the work of Teachers for China, Caring for China's Children and Health for China in the UK. The work in China is under the oversight of an international board of directors registered in Hong Kong and mainland China. The resources needed to maintain and expand the work are large. We are so thankful for all those around the world who contribute to the work by praying, going or giving.
